One of the things that I have found interesting over these past few weeks is finding things that I didn’t even remember I had. I found a bunch of old pictures of Matt, and some negatives of Matt from his first Christmas. What makes a few of those pictures so very special is that my 1st cat Muffin was in a few of them. Muffin was my gift for finishing first grade, so we got him in the spring of ’78. I remember the day I got married having him on my bed in my room while I got dressed. He was 17 and not in the best condition, but he was still there. He stuck around for another year, year and a half. Long enough to show up in some pictures with Matt, my own two special boys. When we move I plan on getting those pictures developed and frame at least one of them.
I also did find some group pictures from my wedding, while I don’t plan on necessarily showing those off I do still relish having them. That day was the happiest day of my life. Looking back we probably never should have gotten married, but we were young and at least I was willing to do my best to make the marriage work. But I prefer to just remember how happy I was that day.
This post is inspired by Getting Married and Other Mistakes by Barbara Slate. This graphic novel offers a raw, yet humorous look at what happens to Jo after a surprise divorce. Join From Left to Write on Thursday, June 28 as we discuss Getting Married and Other Mistakes by Barbara Slate. I received a review copy of the and all opinions are my own.
