For school that is. Emmy starts in 11 days and Matt in 15. But with cross country practices already upon us we have the right incentive to start getting back into the schedule now. Thankfully this summer I kept the 10pm lights out in effect, though I know they didn’t listen. So I’m having to enforce that more now by confiscating the offending electronics. Emmy already in the groove I don’t have to tell her its 10 at all. She pops out of her room for hugs and kisses then goes back in. She has a 9pm curfew to get into her room, lights out at 9:30 during the school year. Might need to tweak that this year depending on how she is in the mornings, she’s seemed to be needing more sleep lately. But with 2 night owls its hard to find the right mix of bed time. Emmy had been known to be in her bed but wide awake for hours on end. So moving the time back a smidge and getting her to burn off the extra energy has resulted in her going to sleep earlier than by just sending her to bed. This year I’m thinking she’ll need more extra curricular activities to get her tired. But with cross country season right at the start of the year, this creates more problems. So the first quarter of school will be limited in what she does. The balancing act just gets more complicated as they get older and their needs change. And Emmy is such an easy going kid, she goes with the flow I at times have a hard time knowing what the right choice is for her.
